A letter with envelope, 1865, to John Reuben Thompson, contains a fair copy of four stanzas of "Tears, idle tears ..." from "The princess" with a note thanking Thompson for his poem and criticism, noting that he hates writing out his own poems, and asking if Thompson is coming out to see the great Glass House in Hyde Park. In a letter, 1890 July 16, to Lawrence Barrett, Tennyson expresses his delight that Barrett wants to perform his play "Becket" and has instructed his solicitor to make out a draft contract. The letter is in Hallam Tennyson's hand with Tennyson's signature. A letter, n.d., to an unidentified recipient, Tennyson asks his correspondent to call.
